Kathmandu: Monsoon-induced disasters have claimed the lives of eight more people across Nepal in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 190 since June 10. The fatalities are primarily due to landslides, floods, and other natural calamities, as reported by the Nepal Police.

Nepal Police Spokesperson and DIG Dan Bahadur Karki shared that the victims included 3 people in Kathmandu Valley, 27 in Koshi Province, and 8 in Madhesh Province. Other provinces have also been significantly affected, with Bagmati Province recording 32 deaths, Gandaki Province 36, Karnali Province 13, and Sudurpaschim Province 15.

Rescue operations have been ongoing, with 114 people rescued from disaster-hit areas since the onset of the monsoon. However, 149 people remain missing, and search efforts are still underway. Additionally, 238 individuals have sustained injuries during this period, with the highest number of injuries reported in Karnali Province (57), followed by Gandaki Province (45) and Sudurpaschim Province (34).

The disaster has also caused significant property damage, inundating 384 houses, 112 cowsheds, 51 bridges, four schools, and two government office buildings. Over the past two months, 4,819 households have been displaced due to the monsoon's impact.
